Karen was born in Napanee,
Ontario. For as long as she can remember, her dream was to be an
artist. Each community she’s lived in across Canada, and each region
she’s visited, has been an inspiration in its own right.
|
| |
| Now
she calls Whitehorse home, and no place has captured her senses as
quickly as the Yukon. Karen’s present medium of choice is batik, as it
seems to parallel life with its spontaneity, its unexpected wrinkles,
and its joyful surprises. |
|
| The
resist process of batik is an ancient craft, dating back in history over
two thousand years. Karen couples the traditional method of batik with
constant exploration of the possibilities of wax and dye. |
